Philip Crutchfield QC

Chair

Philip Crutchfield KC

Philip is a current parent and member of Geelong Grammar's Survivor Engagement Committee.


He is a King's Counsel, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and former President of the Commercial Bar Association of Victoria. He is the current Chair of Bell Shakespeare, and is also a board member of The University of Melbourne Humanities Foundation, The University of Melbourne Law School Foundation, The Victorian Bar Foundation, and a number of listed and unlisted companies. He is the former Chair of Zip Co Limited, and a former member of the Geelong Grammar School Council. He holds Commerce and Honours Law Degrees from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Sarah Benson (Je'91)

Sarah Benson (Je'91)

Sarah is an Old Geelong Grammarian.


She is the Executive General Manager of General Surgeons Australia and has extensive senior management and governance experience in the not-for-profit sector, specifically in the field of surgical education and training. This experience includes working with not-for-profit Boards and Committees, and an appreciation for the unique challenges of engaging and working with volunteers. Sarah has both a Bachelor of Social Science (Psych) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons - Psych) from Swinburne University of Technology, with particular research interests in burnout and emotional intelligence. She attended the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in 2015 and is well informed of the findings of the Commission and the systemic issues identified. Sarah sings with Pitchface Choir, a community choir based in the Inner West of Melbourne.

Rebecca Cody

Rebecca Cody 

Rebecca commenced as the Principal of Geelong Grammar School in April 2018. She is an ex officio Director of the Board of Healing and Hope.


Through each engagement with a survivor from our School, Rebecca reflects: “I learn so much; I am forever changed. The lessons learnt from our survivors shape and inform the student safeguarding responses on each of our campuses today. I have come to understand post-traumatic stress; blessedly, I also have the gift of supporting post-traumatic growth.

Ian Coltman (A'77)

Ian Coltman (A'77)

Ian is an Old Geelong Grammarian and immediate past President of the Old Geelong Grammarians Association.


Ian has practiced law since 1985. He has extensive corporate, commercial and financial services law experience having worked at leading law firms in Melbourne and London, in senior roles with ASIC, and as the Head of Legal for the Australian arm of one of the world's largest fund managers. He now runs his own legal practice specialising in corporate law, funds management and financial services regulation.


He is an ex officio Director of the Board of Healing and Hope.

Peter Chomley (Ge'63)

Peter Chomley (Ge'63)

Peter is a 4th generation OGG and related to one of the founders of GGS, Hussey Burgh McCartney.


He was President of the Old Geelong Grammarians Association 2010-2015, and has been a member of Geelong Grammar's Recognition Committee since 2016 and is the current Chair. He has a PhD from RMIT University from where he recently retired.


He is an ex officio Director of the Board of Healing and Hope.

Kathleen Maltzahn

Kathleen Maltzahn 

Kath is a past parent of Geelong Grammar School.


She is an experienced foster parent and primary school teacher who established Merrivale Independent Primary School in Melbourne in 1978 where she worked until 2000. She then worked at Andale School in Kew. Kath established Everest Trekking 1984-2015 to ensure earnings from this prosperous industry stayed with the people who did the work and she set up the Sarawati Teachers Resource Centre Kathmandu, Nepal, which is still operating. She brings experience in establishing new organisations to the Board of Healing and Hope.

Fr Jeff O'Hare

Fr Jeff O'Hare (Cu'79)

Jeff is an Old Geelong Grammarian and past Senior Chaplain at Geelong Grammar School.



Jeff has a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from RMIT and a Bachelor of Theology through the Melbourne College of Divinity and Trinity College Melbourne University. He is currently Vicar of Christ Church Belleville, Ontario, Canada. Jeff is currently also on the Board of United Way in Hastings, Prince Edward County, Ontario. He was deeply moved by the findings of the 2015 Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and has a passion for the restoration of respect to the many victims of the dark days of Geelong Grammar's history and trauma associated with sexual abuse.
